Refund Policy

Effective Date: August 31, 2026

Our Commitment

Every author's project is unique. Our team invests time, professional expertise, creative effort, and project resources into each client's work.

For this reason, refund requests are reviewed fairly while taking into consideration the work completed, the current status of the project, resources allocated, deliverables provided, and any applicable contractual obligations.

We encourage clients to communicate any concerns promptly so that we have a reasonable opportunity to address them during the project.

Project Cancellation

Clients may request cancellation of a project by submitting a written cancellation request through our official communication channels.

Cancellation requests will be reviewed based on factors including:

  • The current stage of the project.
  • Whether work has commenced.
  • Work already completed.
  • Resources and personnel allocated to the project.
  • Deliverables already provided.
  • Client approvals previously granted.
  • Project milestones completed.
  • Third-party costs or expenses incurred on behalf of the client.

Submitting a cancellation request does not automatically guarantee a refund.

Refund Eligibility

Refund eligibility is determined after reviewing the specific circumstances of each project.

Factors that may be considered include:

  • Whether work has commenced.
  • The percentage of work completed.
  • Deliverables already provided.
  • Client approvals or authorizations previously granted.
  • Project milestones completed.
  • Time and professional resources invested.
  • Expenses or third-party costs already incurred.

If a refund is approved, the refund amount may be adjusted to account for work already completed, services already delivered, and any applicable non-recoverable costs.

Work Already Completed

Independent Authors House provides customized services that may include consultation, project planning, manuscript-related services, editing, proofreading, design, formatting, publishing support, marketing, project management, and other creative or professional services.

Once work has been performed or a deliverable has been provided, the portion of the project relating to that completed work may be considered earned and generally may not be eligible for a refund.

Clients are encouraged to carefully review project materials and communicate concerns during the applicable review or revision process.

Client Approvals

During a project, clients may be asked to review and approve drafts, concepts, designs, layouts, manuscripts, proofs, marketing materials, or other deliverables.

Once a client provides approval and the project proceeds to the next stage, the previously approved portion of the work may be considered completed.

Refund requests based solely on a subsequent change of preference, direction, or personal preference after approval may not be eligible for a refund.

Revisions

Many services may include revision opportunities as specified in the applicable service agreement, proposal, package, or project scope.

Clients are encouraged to make reasonable use of the available revision opportunities to address concerns within the agreed scope of work.

Revision opportunities are intended to refine the agreed deliverables and do not create an entitlement to unlimited revisions, additional services, or work outside the original scope of the project.

Circumstances That May Not Be Eligible for a Refund

Refunds may generally not be granted in circumstances including, but not limited to:

  • A change of mind after work has commenced.
  • Failure to communicate or participate reasonably during the project.
  • Failure to provide required materials, information, approvals, or feedback.
  • Project delays caused by the client.
  • Failure to respond within a reasonable period when project input or approval is required.
  • Dissatisfaction arising solely from a change in personal preference.
  • Refusal to utilize available revision opportunities.
  • Completion of agreed project milestones.
  • Services or deliverables already completed or provided.
  • Client-approved work.
  • Services dependent upon third-party platforms or providers.
  • Marketing, advertising, publishing, or commercial outcomes that are outside our reasonable control.

Third-Party Services and Costs

Certain projects may involve third-party providers, including but not limited to printing companies, publishing platforms, distribution partners, advertising platforms, media outlets, payment processors, or other service providers.

Any third-party fees, expenses, or costs incurred on behalf of a client may be subject to the policies and terms of the applicable third party.

Independent Authors House cannot guarantee the recovery of funds paid to third parties.

Refunds relating to third-party costs will only be considered where such funds are recoverable.

No Guarantee of Results

Independent Authors House provides professional services intended to support authors throughout various stages of the writing, publishing, marketing, and promotion process.

However, we do not guarantee specific results, including:

  • Book sales.
  • Bestseller status.
  • Publishing platform approval.
  • Reader reviews or ratings.
  • Media coverage.
  • Marketing performance.
  • Commercial success.
  • Search engine rankings.
  • Advertising performance.
  • Specific website traffic.
  • Specific social media growth or engagement.
  • Distribution decisions made by third parties.
  • Acceptance or approval by retailers, bookstores, media outlets, or other third-party organizations.

Publishing and marketing outcomes depend on numerous factors that may be beyond our reasonable control.

Client Cooperation and Project Delays

The timely completion of a project may depend on the client's cooperation and the timely provision of required materials, approvals, feedback, and other information.

Independent Authors House is not responsible for delays resulting from a client's failure to provide necessary materials or responses within a reasonable timeframe.

Extended periods of inactivity may affect project timelines, scheduling, or the availability of resources.

Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

Clients experiencing concerns regarding billing or services are encouraged to contact Independent Authors House directly before initiating a payment dispute or chargeback.

We encourage clients to provide us with a reasonable opportunity to review and address legitimate concerns.

If a payment dispute or chargeback is initiated while services are ongoing, Independent Authors House may suspend the affected project or services while the matter is reviewed.

Where necessary to respond to a payment dispute, Independent Authors House may provide relevant documentation, including project records, invoices, communications, approvals, agreements, and records of services or deliverables provided to the applicable payment processor or financial institution.

Refund Processing

If a refund is approved, it will generally be issued using the original payment method whenever reasonably possible.

Refund processing times may vary depending on:

  • Financial institutions.
  • Payment providers.
  • Banking procedures.
  • Payment processing systems.
  • Geographic location.

Independent Authors House is not responsible for delays caused by banks, credit card companies, payment processors, or other third parties after a refund has been approved and processed by us.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the liability of Independent Authors House relating to a refund request or service dispute shall not exceed the amount actually paid by the client for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

Independent Authors House shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, special, or similar damages arising from the use of our services, except where such limitations are prohibited by applicable law.

Nothing in this Refund Policy is intended to limit any rights that cannot legally be limited or excluded under applicable law.
